A brief roundup of the Tuesday and Wednesday night Matches

With several matches having played on Bank Holiday Monday, there was only limited activity in the remainder of the week, with two matches each in the North division and Division One.
A lively encounter at Inkersall Road on Tuesday night saw Staveley Reserves and AFC Bentley share the points after a 2-2 draw. Bentley took a 21st minute lead through Bradley Maddison, Declan Jenkins pulling things level seven minutes from half time. In a pulsating match where the pace rarely slackened, Maddison again put the visitors ahead with 53 minutes gone, but a strong run and finish by Elliott Barnard on seventy minutes restored parity, the match deservedly ending all square. Newark Town earned their first points of the season on Wednesday evening, beating Dronfield Town Reserves 3-1 at Stonelow Road. They were ahead in the second minute, Adam Smith the scorer, the home side’s Ryan Baxter equalising on 14 minutes. Newark secured the points in the second half thanks to two well struck shots from Leighton Nicholson.
A hat trick from Eastwood Community’s Kieran Knight was the highlight of a 4-0 defeat of Holbrook Sports on Wednesday. Knight struck twice in the first half with Tom Coupe also netting to give a comfortable lead, Knight completing his treble in the 57th minute. Wirksworth Town made it four wins from five after a 2-1 win at Heanor Town. Ryan Marchington put Wirksworth in front on 7 minutes, Kyle Daley getting on for Heanor on the hour. Ryan Smith got the winner on 77 minutes, Heanor keeper George Attenborough saving a penalty to keep the winning margin to a single goal.
