Just two league and three cup games emerged from the wreckage of this afternoon’s schedule as the constant rainfall took its toll on local football.
Two matches survived in the Black Dragon Badges North. Dinnington Town finally conceded a goal in their ninth league match, drawing 1-1 with Harworth Colliery. In a highly entertaining match the home side the lead with a Luke Fletcher goal before their defence was finally breached, Harworth equalising through Chris Belshaw. Phoenix will be toasting their groundstaff for getting their game on as they put seven past Dronfield Town Reserves. Suhail Hussein led the way with a hat trick, Adam Houghton scored twice with Adam Powell and Marcus Gorden getting a goal apiece.
The final second round tie in the second round of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup saw Epworth Town Colts pull off a 7-1 win against struggling Borrowash Victoria. There were two goals each for James Bingham and Ritchie Burdett with the others coming from Ammar Abbas, Gary Moment and Matt Muldoon.
The other two cup ties benefitted from 3G pitches. Holbrook St Michaels won 3-2 at Boynton Sports in the Mansfield Lodge Hotel Division One Cup thanks to two goals from Jordan Whitehead and one for Chris Saunders, Kurt Ward and Dale Fletcher replying for Boynton.
Meanwhile, in the Notts FA Senior Trophy, FC Sez were 3=0 winners over Rushcliffe with the goals coming from Sam McElroy, Dec Smith and (another) Jordan Whitehead.
