Central Midlands League Buckingham Insurance League Cup 1st Round
ARNOLD TOWN (0)0 GLAPWELL (2)5
North Division Glapwell won as easily as the scoreline suggests with the Eagles offering little resistance in many quarters. It might have been different had the home side had someone up front other than Liam Black who was the only person who provided a shot on target for them.
Black did try an early shot which Glapwell skipper Jordan Edridge was more than equal to, but with ten minutes gone it was the visitors who were pulling the strings.
Glapwell went in front on 12 minutes SHANE BURTON volleying home a left wing cross from fifteen yards totally unmarked. Arnold’s defending was already leaving much to be desired.
Black put in another token shot for the Eagles on 14 minutes which again proved no problems for Edridge.
Glapwell were enjoying midfield superiority and came very close to scoring on two occasions with Sam Kelly going clear on 16 minutes and then proceeding to shoot yards wide, the same player repeating the act a moment or two later.
Edridge was brought to ground in a diving save from another Black shot on 21 minutes and Arnold needed to realise that he needed some support up front. Dan Chambers wos not much help other than to show how clever he was at falling over, although he did better in the air than on the floor with some clever flicks forward.
Glapwell’s second goal on 33 minutes was a joy to watch; a really splendid move started by Richard Matthews who saw Sam Kelly in space and found him to continue the move for Nathan Hadley whose delightful back heel left OLIVER ROUSE to execute a smart finish.
At this stage Arnold were still in the game and they might have pulled a goal back in the 37th minute when Kyle Mason’s free kick was well hit but equally well saved by Edridge under the bar, holding onto the fierce drive safely.

The second half became more and more one-sided as the game wore on with Glapwell threatening to score almost at will, but the Eagles held out until the 64th minute when NATHAN HADLEY increase the visitors lead with a powerful header from a corner with the Arnold defence once again star gazing.
Within four minutes Glapwell’s passage into the competition’s last 32 was confirmed when SAM KELLY shot home low and hard across goal from a right wing cross.
Arnold seemed to have nothing to hit back with and Glapwell were now coasting. That is until nine minutes from the end when the ever dangerous Black aimed a rising drive for the top corner for Arnold but once again finding Edridge in commanding form between the sticks to hold onto his rising shot.
Substitute Callum Spencer provided the final opening with a through ball for the visitors with two minutes of the game remaining for SAM KELLY to net the visitors fifth with a delightful chip over Isaac Gibbs in the home goal.
