The Saturday Roundup for December 19th

A roundup of what remained of today's fixtures

Just a handful of games today as Friday’s rain combined with the
cross-border regulations.

The two frontrunners in the Premier South division both added to their haul of points. Leaders Blidworth Welfare won 4-0 against an Underwood Villa side whose early season form seems to have deserted them. Luke Bacon gave the home side a 10th minute lead which Lee Townsend doubled on the half hour. Paul Revuelta made it three five minutes later with Bacon’s second rounding off the scoring in the 69th minute, the woodwork preventing Blidworth from adding to their tally, It was closer at Hilton Harriers where Pinxton had a 2-1 Win despite playing with ten men for part of the second half. Rob Fretwell scored both for Pinxton with Hilton’s goal coming from Mitch Lord. Linby Colliery came from two down to share the points with Sherwood Colliery Reserves, the match ending in a 2-2 draw. All the goals came in the second half with Tyrone Macaskill and Joe Flint putting the Wood on top before Brad Newby pulled one back and Ben Jones hit a last minute leveller. Ashland Rovers travelled to Teversal Reserves and returned with a 2-1 win. Cameron Pinnock put Tevie ahead on 25 minutes, Adam Pugh equalising three minutes before half time. Again there was a last minute goal with Robbie Savage striking to lift the points.

South Yorkshire again provided the action in the Premier North division. AFC Bentley moved up to fourth in the division after a 4-1 defeat of AFC Phoenix, though they left it rather late. Phoenix went ahead on 54 minutes with an Adam Houghton goal and it wasn’t until the 75th minute that Josh Bowkett equalised. Darren Bird put Bentley in front on 83 minutes before Brad Sykes (90) and Liam Carrick (97) finished the late show. It was the other way round for Sutton Rovers as they put five first half goals past visitors Renishaw. Callum Stockton gave them a first minute lead which was followed by an Adi Parker double in the space of a minute midway through the half. Stockton grabbed number four with half an hour played, Parker completing his hat trick five minutes before the break to complete a 5-0 win.

Only two games survived in Division One. In the South section, PMG Academy continued their good run with a 6-0 defeat of Underwood Villa, the goals coming from Lamin Mannee (2), Charles Opoku, Alex Bamba, Hemin Mahmoodi and Maksymillian Jelenski. One game also in the Central division, Holbrook St Michaels drawing 1-1 with Bakewell Town. Bart Banks scored with a penalty for Holbrook with Alex Moth replying for the visitors

In the Presidents Cup Newark Town were 3-2 winners at Clifton. Tom Perkins scored twice for Newark with Tyler Martin also on target, Clifton’s goals both coming from Ben Cooke.
