The following statement below has been released this evening by the FA
"Following the Government’s announcement today, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, we are now advising that all grassroots football in England is postponed for the foreseeable future.
Throughout this period, we have taken Government advice with the priority being the health and wellbeing of us all. We will continue to work closely with the grassroots game during this time".
The League Management Committee have taken the responsible decision to suspend the League until further notice.
The main reason for suspending the League is that by playing or facilitating football, we are furthering social interaction. The second reason is that our clubs rely on volunteers, many of whom are elderly and therefore, clubs may not have sufficient resources to continue.
People over the age of 70, by the end of the week, may be subjected to a ‘lengthy stay at home policy’.
I ask you all, players, staff and your extended families to stay safe during this time.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and support during these unprecedented times.
The league will continue to monitor the information sent out by the FA and Public Health England and will
keep you all informed of any development.
