Once again the weather was the winner as yet another Saturday’s fixture list was shredded.
Friday night’s match in the Premier North division saw Collingham pull off a 3-2 win against Staveley Reserves. James Evans headed home a 6th minute opener for the home side, but a quickfire double from Brad Jones and Danny Fullwood midway through the half put Staveley in front. An own goal sent the sides in at the break on level terms, Kieran Job hitting Collingham’s winner on the hour mark. Four Saturday matches escaped, Newark Town extending their lead at the top to four points after a 3-0 win at AFC Phoenix. Following a goalless first half Rhys Lewis put the visitors ahead on 65 minutes, Lewis Chambers coming off the bench to score in the 81st and 84th minutes to round off the win. Askern Miners finally got their second league win of the season after a 3-1 victory at Kiveton Miners Welfare, Hayden Tomlinson scoring two and Danny Jones adding the other one with Liam O‘Brien getting one for Kiveton. An entertaining match at AFC Bentley saw the home side pull off a 2-0 win against Dearne & District. Theo Mowatt opened the scoring on 33 minutes, Craig Aspinall sealing the points two minutes from time. SJR Worksop and Dinnington Town shared the points in a 3-3 draw. Jaden Thackery, Daniel Wiltshire and Matty Templeton were on target for the home side, Brandon Ashmore getting all three for Dinnington.
Only one match survived in the Premier South division, Pinxton taking full advantage as they hammered Ashland Rovers 9-1 at Wharf Road. Brad Foley scored a hat trick, Tom Widdowson added two with Tom Ellis, Sion Green, Zach Melrose and Joel Smith also finding the net.
In the Macron Store Nottingham Division One North a crowd of 135 turned out to watch Thorne Colliery beat Bottesford Town 7-0 thanks to a Lee Holmes hat trick, two fron George Cowen and one apiece for Kirk Frost and Jack Daniels. Bessacarr were 4-0 winners at Newark Town, Jordan Wilkinson (2), Liam Cooper and Kam Latif with the goals. Harworth Colliery won their local derby at Retford 3-1 with goals from Rio Allan, Henry Alton and Bayley Lowe with Kris Scott scoring for Retford.
Ripley Town switched their Division One South fixture with Carlton Town to the 3G at Belper Leisure Centre and it certainly paid off as they won 3-1 with goals from Michael Dunne, Alex Crossley and Jason Barrett, Harrison France replying for Carlton.A goal direct from a Tom Moore free kick was enough to give Castle Donington the win against PMG Academy
In the Presidents Cup Linby Colliery beat Dearne & District 6-0. There were two goals each for Travis Shooter and Connor Gillan with Harley Shooter and Alaister Staley also on target.
