MIDWEEK MATCHES

In the Black Dragon Badges North Division Dearne & District’s Baz Lowe has certainly hit the ground running, scoring his second hat trick in three days in his side’s 7-1 thumping of AFC Phoenix on Tuesday night. In front of another big crowd of 279, Dearne were two up at the break, Lowe and Zeph Thomas with the goals, before stepping up a gear in the second half, Lowe adding another two, Thomas, Ryan Dean and Regan Kelly completing the scoring with Lloyd Chuba getting a consolation for Phoenix. Plenty of goals also at Glapwell where the hosts were comprehensively beaten by Retford FC Reserves. Retford were four goals clear by half time, Glapwell being slightly better at damage limitation in the second period, but still conceding another two. On target for Retford were Brandon Hooley who got a hat trick, Joel Bradshaw with two and Luke Bown. A close match at AFC Bentley saw the home side record back to back wins, a 27th minute back header from Owen Hall proving sufficient to take the points against debutants Chesterfield Youth. Kiveton Miners Welfare’s season opener resulted in a 2-0 defeat to visitors Dinnington Town, Brad Sedgwick and Joe Harris with the goals. Rossington Main Reserves had a profitable start to their league campaign, inflicting a comprehensive 7-2 defeat on Hatfield Town. Callum Aspinall scored twice with Will McGhie, James Stuart, Josh Skill and Jordan Wilkinson also found the net, an own goal making up the total. Aidan Tomes and Callum Stockton replied for Hatfield. A second two goal win for Doncaster City, this time against Harworth Colliery. After a goalless first half, Craig Hobson opened the scoring on the hour, Rio Allan hitting the second ten minutes later.

Mickleover RBL bounced back from last week’s rare South Division defeat to overrun Nottingham FC 7-1. There were two goals each for Luke Crosby and Josh Lee and one apiece from Cole Hassell, Mason Booth-Davis and Lee Hillier. Meanwhile Arnold Town were two goals up on two occasions at Mickleover Reserves. A Toby Francis double gave the visitors the perfect start, Bobby Battison pulling one back. Delane Hilton then restored Arnold’s lead but Mickleover turned the game round with Harry Atwal, Fin Ryder and Brandon Ferron pinching the points, the winner coming in the fifth minute of added time. On Wednesday evening a deflected shot from Melbourne Dynamo’s Tyler Withers five minutes from time was enough to take the points at Holbrook St Michaels.

SATURDAY’S MATCHES

Three teams have the perfect nine points in the North division after Saturday’s games. It was a case of youth versus experience at Shirebrook as Dearne & District just got the better of Chesterfield’s Youth team. Hotshot Bayley Lowe put Dearne ahead on 26 minutes, Leo King replying eight minutes later to send the sides in level at the interval. Zeph Thomas and Enzo Guarani scored to give the visitors some breathing space, Tom Pawson getting a second two minutes from time, a bit too late to take a point from a thoroughly entertaining match. Doncaster City are nothing if not consistent. They recorded their third successive 2-0 win, this time at SJR Worksop. Both goals came from Rio Allan on 74 and 90 minutes. AFC Bentley also recorded their third win on the trot, returning from Rossington Main with a 2-1 win. Theo Mowatt made amends for an earlier penalty miss with the opening goal on 27 minutes, Josh Dodds doubling the lead on the hour. After a 40 yard backpass evaded Bentley’s keeper the visitors had a nervous end to the game but held out to take the points. A frustrating afternoon for James Bytheway as he scored four goals for Hatfield Town but still finished on the losing side, opponents Staveley Reserves running in six to take the points. Doing the damage for the Trojans were Jay Jay Cutts who grabbed a hat trick, Liam Kamsika, Ethan Robinson and Ben Bailie. Woodhouse Colts hammered Glapwell 7-1. The visitors, decimated by departures over the summer, fielded just two players who appeared last Saturday, went down to their second successive heavy defeat, Colts scoring through Charles Simpkins with a hat trick, Tom Bailey who added two, Josh Smyth and Daniel Barke, Glapwell ‘s consolation goal coming from Kieran Starbuck. Liam Cross got a double for Retford FC Reserves as they won 4-2 at Harworth Colliery, Brandon Hooley and Dan Ogley with the other goals, Harworth replying through Cory Goodwin and Josh Fraiwald. Kiveton Miners Welfare consigned AFC Phoenix to another defeat, Dillon Gregory, Solly Limb and Jack Cranshaw scoring in a 3-0 win. Elite FC have back to back wins after defeating Yorkshire Main at Edlington, the final score 4-1. Elite’s goals came from Robbie Wood, Tommy Pallett, Jordan Carter on his debut and Brodey Burden, Main getting one back with a Brandon Burke strike.

In the South Teversal made it back to back wins, defeating Nottingham FC 4-1. It wasn’t until the sixth minute of first half added time that Tevie took the lead with a Jake Allen goal. Although the visitors equalised through Edwin Anuni on 58 minutes Teversal took the points with goals from Eddie Morgan midway through the half, Kurtis Bamford five minutes later and Liam Carver in the dying moments. Promoted AFC Normanton also have two from two as they travelled to Holbrook St Michaels, returning on the right end of a 3-0 scoreline. All three goals came in a twelve minute spell in the second half, Jak Lightly’s 57th minute goal followed by Josh Manifold three minutes later and Todd Warner on 69. Mickleover RBL had a 3-1 win against Melbourne Dynamo, Cole Hassell, Lee Hillier and Lee Fell the scorers, Carl Allsop getting one for Melbourne. Despite playing for 35 minutes with ten men, Linby Colliery hung on for a 2-1 win over Mansfield Hosiery Mills. Samousi Ibrahim’s eighth minute penalty gave Linby an early advantage, Sean Craven adding a second on 22 minutes. Henry Brooks gave the Millers hope in added time but they couldn’t add to it in a goalless second half. Pinxton went down to a second narrow defeat, visitors Graham St Prims getting the only goal of the game four minutes from the end.
