Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for October 7th

MIDWEEK MATCHES

A thin week for spectators with only two Tuesday night matches scheduled. Last season’s Premier North champions Retford United suffered only one defeat in the whole campaign, away at Harworth Colliery. Dearne & District didn’t fall into the same trap, three goals in a 12 minute spell guiding them to a 5-1 win at Scrooby Road. After a goalless first half hour, Regan Kelly opened the scoring for Dearne, Enzo Guarini and Baz Lowe adding to the score before half time. Lowe got his second from the penalty spot on 73 minutes, Ashley McEwan finally putting Harworth on the scoresheet three minutes later. Dearne had the last word, Lance Friedrich’s 90th minute strike confirming Dearne’s tenth straight win.

A dominant first half display set up AFC Normanton’s 3-1 win at Teversal. John Fones put the visitors ahead in the 10th minute, netting again with 32 played. Brandon Hunt’s somewhat fortunate third six minutes before half time giving Normanton a comfortable cushion. Tevie had a better second half, reducing the arrears in the 49th minute thanks to an own goal. After the visitors went down to ten men the home side had numerous chances to add to their score but were unable to find away past a well organised defence.

WEEKEND MATCHES

BLACK DRAGON BADGES PREMIER NORTH DIVISION

It’s as you were in the north with Dearne & District, Doncaster City and AFC Bentley all taking maximum points from their matches. Dearne raced into a three goal lead in the first eight minutes of their game at Kiveton Miners Welfare. One from Curtis Wilkinson and a Bayley Lowe double gave them a lightning start and virtually settled things, Wilkinson getting his second before half time. The home side had a better second half, Amaan Aslam pulling one back before Lowe completed a seemingly inevitable hat trick. Doncaster City remain hot on their heels after a 4-1 win against Yorkshire Main. They received an early setback when Brandon Burke netted for Main on 8 minutes but were on level terms through Rio Allan five minutes later. Shay Evans Booth put them ahead after 18 minutes, with second half goals from Allan midway through the second half and Jack McKay ten minutes from time finished the job. AFC Bentley just about held on to their unbeaten tag despite almost surrendering a four goal lead against Dinnington Town. The visitors rattled the woodwork twice in the opening five minutes before Owen Hall’s double on 6 and 34 minutes and Brachen Steele five minutes from the interval put Bentley well clear, Matty Hughes soon added a fourth but a Dinnington fightback saw Gracjan Klimczak and Jordan Turner (2) put their side right back in it with a three goal burst in just twelve minutes. Despite a continuous bombardment of the Bentley goal the visitors just couldn’t find a fourth. SJR Worksop picked up a useful point at Elite AFC, Jack McKernan’s goal almost seeing them home, Sam Limber’s late goal for Elite earning them a point. Harworth conceded five for the second time this week as they lost 5-2 to Rossington Main Reserves. Damien Wieczorek got a hat trick for Rossington, Jason Stokes and Danny Hartley adding one apiece, Jaden Thackery scoring both for the hosts. Retford Reserves must be wondering how on earth they managed to lose 2-1 at Woodhouse Colts. After taking a 2nd minute lead through Brandon Hooley they contrived to miss countless chances before Woodhouse equalised late in the second half, Liam Theakstone’s goal allowed to stand after the linesman’s flag was overruled. The home side then benefitted from a defensive mistake which allowed Jayden Bull to put the ball into an empty net after seven of the eleven minutes of added time. Down at the bottom it was a familiar story for Glapwell who conceded another seven goals with only one in reply at home to Staveley Reserves. Callum Brown’s 9th minute opener for Staveley was quickly erased by Kian Morris, but that was Glapwell’s only highlight as Brown and Ethan Robinson scored before half time. Brown completed his hat trick on 51 minutes, Robinson struck again five minutes later, his hat trick goal coming in the second minute of stoppage time with Jay Cutts adding a seventh a minute later.

PREMIER SOUTH DIVISION

There are new leaders this week, South Normanton Athletic, who are two points clear after a 3-0 win against Cromford & Wirksworth Town. Tyrone Macaskill gave them a half time lead, adding a second before a Josh Parfitt goal sealed the win. Derby Singh Brothers have only dropped two points this season, continuing their impressive run with a 4-1 defeat of Graham St Prims. Scorers for Singhs were Lee Williamson, Tyler Johal, Kaylan Anderson and Michael Fitzhugh with Max Bulmer getting one for Prims. Seven without defeat for Pinxton who made it another blank day for Nottingham FC, the final score 6-1. Nathan Benger’s hat trick was added to by Harley Kozluk with two and Sion Green. The other two matches ended all square. AFC Normanton left it very late to rescue a point at Melbourne Dynamo, Kieron Grant’s equaliser not arriving until the third minute of stoppage time. Tyler Withers had given Dynamo a great start with goals in the 10th and 14th minutes, Rio Allen reducing the arrears four minutes before the break, which was how it stayed until Grant’s late strike. A point each for Mickleover Reserves and Mayfield in a 3-3 draw, Mason Tudgay with two and Jack Carter scoring for Mickleover, John Ford (2) and Sam Howard replying for Mayfield.

MACRON STORE NOTTINGHAM DIVISION ONE NORTH

Bessacarr were 4-0 winners at home to Bottesford Town, Ronin Herrington scoring a hat trick with substitute Quin Sims also scoring. Worksop Town, playing only their third game of the season, also achieved their third win, 8-3 at Dearne & District. Alfie Parnell led the way with four to his name, Dan Gillatt wasn’t far behind with a hat trick, Rhys Butterworth also finding the net.

DIVISION ONE EAST

Ashland Rovers reclaimed top spot by beating Clipstone 2-1, Declan Dawn and Ryan Butler the scorers, Jenson Parker with one for Clipstone. Long Bennington were 3-0 winners at home to Teversal. Ed Brown put them ahead in the 38th minute, Ollie Bridges adding a second with 71 played before Max Hardy completed the scoring deep into stoppage time.

DIVISION ONE WEST

Holbrook Sports extended their winning run to seven with a 5-2 defeat of Heanor Town. Scorers for Holbrook were Ethan Watson with two, Joel Cain, Bradley Daly and Michael Birkenshaw. Rowsley 86 beat Cromford & Wirksworth Town 5-3. Jacob Silcock scored for Rowsley on 13minutes, Aaron Eyre with a second two minutes later. Graham Whysall reduced the arrears, before Silcock got his second five minutes before half time. A Cromford revival in the second half saw Joe Sharkey and Max Neville put the sides level but two goals from Eyre in the last ten minutes gave Rowsley the points. Tom Lewis (2) and George Bradley inspired Bargate Rover to a 3-2 win at Inter Belper, Damian Allsop and Asa Shelton with the goals for the home side

DIVISION ONE SOUTH

The only match resulted in a 3-3 draw between Burton United and Baobab United. Bamoussa Cisse took his season’s total to eleven for Baobab, Ajay Thomas also on the scoresheet with Burton taking a point thanks to Jamie Disney, Rine Pivarnik and Freddie Shreeve.

DRAYTON PACS DIVISION TWO

No joy in the Junior North Cup with all three clubs going out. Ashover fell to a 5-0 defeat at Shirebrook Soldiers, Bakewell Development were beaten 4-0 at Tintwistle Athletic Reserves while Winster Darley Lions found little to raise their spirits, Josh Raybould and Liam Ashton’s goals not enough to avoid a 3-2 defeat to The !9th Hole.
