Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for September 30th

MIDWEEK MATCHES

The week’s midweek matches centred on the Black Dragon Badges Premier South division with five of the leading six teams in action. A purple patch either side of half time inspired Teversal to a 4-3 win against Wirksworth Ivanhoe. Wirksworth took a 10th minute lead with a Tom Mellor goal, Liam Bednall adding a second ten minutes later. The home side’s revival began a minute before half time with a Connor Bower penalty and continued with Bowers’ second on 46 and one from Liam Carver two minutes later. Mellor brought the sides level before Jason Heppell clinched the points for the hosts. Two late goals saw Mickleover RBL pinch the points at Graham Street Prims. Max Bulmer put Prims in front with 15 minutes played, Ben Rushby equalising just after the half hour, the prolific Alex Seale getting a second for Prims in first half injury time. Prims held the lead until the 82nd minute when Mason Booth-Davies put the Legion level, Emilio de Abreu delivering the killer blow a minute from time. The first South Normanton derby resulted in a 3-1 win for Athletic against AFC in front of 220 spectators. The Shiners ran up a three goal lead through Tyrone Macaskill, Tom McTighe and Marc Bright before Jak Lightly got one back for the visitors. Mickleover Athletic kept up the pressure in Division One West, coming from behind to beat Heanor Town 3-2. Heanor’s Harrison Pearson and Jordan Whitehead gave them a two goal interval lead before Mickleover turned the tables, Jamie Laird, Harry Foxon and Dom Hurst their matchwinner.

WEEKEND MATCHES
BLACK DRAGON BADGES PREMIER NORTH DIVISION

Friday night’s match resulted in a convincing 5-0 win for Chesterfield Youth at Staveley Reserves. Scorers for the young Spireites were James Simmonite with two, Jordan Wells, Lewis Reah and Yewo Nyirenda. A seven goal thriller at AFC Bentley, the home side taking the points with a stoppage time winner against Harworth Colliery. Josh Dodds got Bentley off to the perfect start with a third minute goal, Jayden Thackery equalising in the 24th minute and giving Harworth the lead on 50 minutes. Six minutes later Brad Sykes levelled the scores again before Cory Goodwin put the visitors ahead again. An own goal ten minutes from the end and Luke Flanagan’s late, late winner ensured Bentley remain unbeaten this season. It’s nine from nine for Dearne & District after a 5-1 win at Yorkshire Main. Curtis Wilkinson put the leaders two up at half time, completing his hat trick a minute after the restart with Josh Moore adding two more. Main got the ultimate consolation goal four minutes into stoppage time, Czyman Czubik the scorer. Rossington Main Development took the lead at Doncaster City with a Damian Wieczorek goal in the 17th minute but that was as good as it got as their hosts put on a ruthless second half performance to run out 8-1 winners. Darren Bird and Muhamet GashI edged Doncaster in front by half time but the real damage was done early in the second half. In a six minute spell from the 52nd minute the home side scored four times, Jonny Nyantou (2), Rio Allan and Shay Evans-Booth putting the game to bed, Evans-Booth adding two more just to make sure. The nightmare continues for Glapwell as they crashed 6-1 at home to Woodhouse Colts. Woodhouse were two up in the first six minutes, Tom Bailey and Jonathan Jenkinson quick off the mark. Bailey scored his second on 34 minutes before Kieran Starbuck gave Glapwell a glimmer of hope four minutes later but that was soon extinguished, Liam Theakstone and Josh Smythe scoring within a minute of each other just before half time. Glapwell did far better in the second period, keeping the visitors at bay until the 82nd minute when Theakstone got his second. After a poor start to the season SJR Worksop look to be on the up, winning their third game in a row, Cam Barnes and Alex Bennett scoring in a 2-1 defeat of Hatfield Town.

PREMIER SOUTH DIVISION

Mickleover RBL still lead the pack after a 5-0 win over AFC Normanton who suffered their second defeat of the week. Mason Booth-Davies did the damage, his hat trick including a 62nd minute penalty, Jordan Lee and Sam Vickers also on the scoresheet. Graham Street Prims put Wednesday night’s defeat behind them with a 3-0 defeat of Mansfield Hosiery Mills, Patryk Goral, Niall Worrall and Harry Stevens with a goal apiece. South Normanton Athletic are third, following a narrow 2-1 win at Mayfield, Kieran Ordidge and Elliott Bland the scorers, John Ford netting for the home side Nine goals shared between three players at Eagle Valley where Arnold Town pulled off their second win of the season, beating a struggling Nottingham FC 7-2. Jake Ogden scored twice in the first 20 minutes before Oluwadamiare Ogantunga reduced the lead, Toby Francis then scored an eight minute hat trick on 3!, 35 and 39 minutes to stifle any hope of the visitors making a comeback, Ogden taking his personal tally to four with goals in the 58th and 71st minutes before Ogantunga’s penalty a minute later ended the scoring. Teversal suffered a setback as they went down 3-2 at Mickleover Reserves who took a three goal lead as Josh Carter scored on 10 and 29 minutes, Mason Tudgay making it three just four minutes later. Teversal came back into the game after the interval, James Whitmore reducing the lead in the 57th and 72nd minutes but couldn’t find the all important third. Pinxton are handily placed, they picked up their fifth successive league win, 3-0 against Holbrook St Michaels who still seek their first point. Wirksworth Ivanhoe met neighbours Cromford & Wirksworth Town, the points shared in a 1-1 draw, Liam Bednall for Ivanhoe, Dan Watson for the visitors.

MACRON STORE NOTTINGHAM DIVISION ONE NORTH
Two matches, two draws with Armthorpe dropping their first points of the season as they and visitors Dearne & District achieved the rarest of results in the CMAL, a goalless draw. In contrast, Bessacarr and Appleby Frodingham managed six between them, Jack Dormer’s double and one from Nathan Fox matched by Frod’s Jay Smith, Adam Whomersley and Brandon McClurey.

DIVISION ONE EAST

Kirton Brickworks and Ashland Rovers kept up the pressure on leaders Blidworth Welfare who were without a game. Kirton edged out Sleetmoor United 3-2 thanks to Jack March, Brad Waugh and an own goal, the home side coming close with goals for Oli Hill and Tom Tozer. Ashland meanwhile had a 4-2 win against Teversal, their goals shared between Declan Dawn, Jordan Davis, Michal Gawlik and Korben Spier, Teversal replying through Jack Milnes and Connor Barnes. Shirebrook Rangers registered their first win of the season in style as they saw off Long Bennington 5-1. Luke Morton scored twice, Ajay Lowe, Stuart Broadley and Connor Phillips also finding the net, the visitors benefiting from an own goal. A Callum Baker double inspired Pilsley to a 2-1 win against Clipstone for whom Leighton Platts was the scorer.

DIVISION ONE WEST

Holbrook Sports joined Mickleover Athletic at the head of the table, preserving their 100% record after a close encounter with Inter Belper resulted in a 2-1 win. Joe Birkinshaw and Ewan Barnes edged it for Holbrook, Harry Everley with the goal for Inter. Kilburn also have a perfect start to the season, maintaining it with a 2-1 defeat of Belper United, Chrisie Ward and Shaun Turner the scorers, Adam Blair- Park with Belper’s reply. An eight goal thriller at Rowsley with the hosts coming from behind twice in a 4-4 draw with Bargate Rovers, Monty Green’s 9th minute goal put Rowsley in front with Luke Masters equalising with 33 played, Callum Hyde giving Bargate the lead three minutes later. Zach Henson brought the home side back on level terms five minutes after half time but a minute later George Bradley had restored the visitors’ lead, Tom Lewis extending it with 56 minutes on the clock. Rowsley drew level again as Henson completed his hat trick, and could have taken all the points if they hadn’t failed from the penalty spot ten minutes from time. Bakewell Town were 3-2 winners at Cromford & Wirksworth Town, The teams exchanged early goals, Conal McGregor’s 4th minute strike for Cromford matched by Caleb Fletcher four minutes later. Goals either side of half time from Leighton Pickering and Jack Hibbitt put Bakewell in control, Max NevIlle’s second for Cromford five minutes from time being too little, too late.

DIVISION ONE SOUTH

Allenton United moved back to the Top of the table with a 7-0 thumping of Burton Hornets. A hat trick for Labrada Domini was accompanied by goals from Elliott Meehan, Kai Hamilton, Daniel James and Caleb Alexander. Allenton moved above Hilton Harriers who were beaten 5-3 by Baobab United for whom Bamoussa Cisse and Musa Jeng scored two apiece, Sam Morris hit a hat trick for Hilton but to no avail. Rajan Pangulier and Ryan Chahal were the scorers for Punjab United as they won 2-1 at Burton United, Jamie Disney with goal for the hosts.

DRAYTON PACS DIVISION TWO

An extraordinary scoreline at Melbourne saw Dynamo go eight points clear at the top after an 11-4 defeat of Ashland Rovers to take their winning run to seven. Joe Shadbolt top scored with four goals, Robin Bentley got a hat trick with Sam Bancroft, Riley Moore, Brandon O’Reilly and Jacob Vella adding one apiece. Ashland’s goals came from Jack Sheldon, Jonny Baka and Declan Tongue with an own goal making up the total. Another hat trick came at Markeaton where Sam Hather scored three in a 6-1 defeat of Ashover. Joe Daly, Nathan Smith and Jack Miller scored the others for the home side, Brendan Moore with Ashover’s goal, Aston Village had a 2-0 win against Little Eaton Kevin Flint and Taylor Downing with the goals, Another 2-0 result at Bargate Rovers, the home side’s James Gamlin and Shane Burrows the men on target against Castle Donington, Finally, Sherwin and Winster & Darley Lions took a point each from a 1-1 draw. Connor Sharpe for Sherwin, Josh Raybould for Winster.

BUCKINGHAM INSURANCE LEAGUE CUP

One of the two outstanding first round ties was played at Birch Park, the all Division One match seeing Bottesford Town beat Ollerton Town 5-0 with four of the five goals coming in the second half, Oliver Rides scored on 40 minutes with George Pritchard getting the second on the hour, Fabian Orczyk added another after 71 with Harry Buttrick’s double in the 76th and 82nd minutes finishing the job.

COUNTY CUPS

Two CMAL reams progressed to Round Two of the Sheffield Senior Cup. AFC Phoenix put their league form behind them as Mohammad Alqraini and Hassan Daud gave them a 2-0 win against South Kirby Colliery. Dinnington Town reached the next stage with a comprehensive 8-0 hammering of Kiveton Miners Welfare. Scorers for Dinnington were Jordan Turner with four, Justin Circuit who got a hat trick.
Mixed fortunes in the Leicestershire Intermediate Cup. Hemington Hammers were 5-4 winners against AFC Belgrave. Matt Brian with two, one each for Jonathan Kirkwood, Karl Munton and Akash Sivakumar.
