Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for September 23rd

MIDWEEK MATCHES

There were just three Tuesday night matches this week. Holbrook Sports top the Macron Store Nottingham Division One West after halting Mickleover Athletic’s winning streak. Holbrook won 3-1 with Ethan Watson, Brad Foley and Dom Hurst getting the goals, Jack Heath with one for Mickleover. In Division One South, Stapenhill hosted FC Sunnyhill who went home with a 3-1 result in their favour, Tom Sheffield with two and Clifton Mitchell the scorers, the hosts responding with a Jack Simpson goal. Dearne & District suffered a rare defeat in the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Senior Cup but put on a defiant performance at Step 4 Stocksbridge Park Steels before going down 4-1 Bayley Lowe scoring the only goal of the second half after their opponents had run up a four goal lead in the first 45.

BUCKINGHAM INSURANCE LEAGUE CUP ROUND ONE
Few surprises but several second half comebacks marked the first round of this season’s League Cup competition. Two Division One teams went through at the expense of Premier Division opposition. A revitalised Ashland Rovers beat Mickleover Reserves 3-2, the sort of result they found impossible last season. Ryan Butler scored all three for Ashland, Mason Tudgay and Zack Sandhu with the goals for the visitors. RHP deepened the doom at Glapwell as they inflicted a 6-1 home defeat on the North Division strugglers. Sol Miller’s goals on 9 and 27 minutes gave RHP the interval lead, the same player completing his hat trick two minutes after the break. Jason Thurlby converted a penalty and Callum Chilvers before Kieran Starbuck finally got Glapwell on the scoreboard in the 65th minute. Miller had the last word taking his personal tally to four a minute later. Rowsley 86 came close to causing an upset, only going down to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Graham St Prims in the closing minutes. Quickfire goals from Max Bulmer and Alex Seale put Prims two up but Rowsley were level by half time, Noah Wayne scoring after half an hour and Monty Green in first half stoppage time. Seale’s second in the 65th minute was chalked off by Green eight minutes from the end but Seale’s hat trick goal on 87 minutes got the visitors through. Friday night’s match at Harworth Colliery saw visitors Doncaster City fight back from three goals down to register a 5-3 win. Harworth looked to be well in control as Matty Templeton’s double and one from Josh Fraiwald gave them a healthy lead after half an hour. Rio Allen got one back just before half time, Dale Whitham converting a penalty to put Doncaster back in contention, Allen levelling things on 53 minutes. The visitors’ Houdini act was completed by Shay Evans-Booth (75) and Jack McKay (79). Elite AFC also found themselves in arrears at the end of 45 minutes, Ash Cantrill having put Yorkshire Main ahead. Elite came back with a bang in the second half, Jacob Tupling (2), Bartek Chrobak, Sammy Amissah completing a 5-1 win. The third turnaround was at Rossington Main, the home side reversing a two goal deficit to see off Woodhouse Colts 3-2. Scorers for Rossington were Mason Laws, Jacob Robinson and Ben Clark after Tom Bailey and Jonathan Jenkinson had netted for Woodhouse. Biggest win of the day was at Nottingham FC where the home side were humiliated in a 12-0 defeat at the hands of Wirksworth Ivanhoe. There was a hat trick for Tom Mellor, two each for Lewis and Jack Higton and one apiece from Ryan Marchington, Billy Franklin, James Collebourne, Owen King and Liam Bednall. Cromford & Wirksworth Town had a comfortable 5-1 win against Castle Donington. Dale Hill scored twice, Aaron Taylor and Darren Cartwright got one each with an own goal making up the total, Oliver Murdock with one for Castle Donington. Derby Singh Brothers beat South Normanton by the odd goal in seven. Singh’s scorers were Lee Williamson, Kaylan Anderson, Kane Samuel, and Raza Mughal with the Shiners replying through Tyrone Macaskill, Josh Parfitt and Tom McTighe. Three ties were decided by penalties. Holbrook Sports edged out Heanor Town Reserves 5-4 after drawing one all in normal time, Brad Daly scoring for Holbrook, Ben Clegg for Heanor. It was also 1-1 at Melbourne Dynamo where James Smith’s goal was wiped out by Pinxton’s Morgan Richards, Pinxton winning the shootout 5-4. Worksop Town beat Sheffield FC 4-3 from the spot after a 3-3 draw. There were five goals in the first 21 minutes, Moses Johnson (2) and Louis Naylor scoring for Sheffield, Dan Gilliatt and Max Eastwood for Worksop. Gilliatt’s second on 65 minutes brought the sides level, before the visitors went through. Cup holders Mickleover RBL are safely over the first hurdle, two from Jordan Lee and one for Ben Rushby and Mason Booth=Davies seeing them through 4-0 against Kilburn. A goal-packed game at Teversal where the home side defeated Stapenhill Reserves 7-3. Tevie were 5-1 up by half time, Liam Carver’s hat trick, Connor Bower’s spot kick and a Jason Heppell goal putting the result beyond doubt, Dante Edwards scoring for Stapenhill. The second half was more equal, Bower and Brad Hall adding goals for Teversal, Zack Knight’s double giving the score a more respectable appearance for the visitors. Holbrook St Michaels belied their lowly league position as they narrowly lost to AFC Normanton 2-1. Holbrook led with a Curtis Whitehead goal after 15 minutes, Josh Manifold equalising four minutes later before Jak Lightly got Normanton’s winner midway through the second half. Retford FC Reserves won 5-2 at Kiveton Miners Welfare, Brandon Hooley with two, Joel Bradshaw, Daniel Ogley and Rourke Grundy their scorers, Dylan Gregory and an own goal for Kiveton. Linby Colliery knocked out neighbours Arnold Town 3-0 with Mason Moore, Brad Gregory and an Alex Paterson penalty proving decisive. The final tie resulted in an 8-0 win for SJR Worksop against Long Bennington. Tom Mullen scored with four, Alex Bennett scored a hat trick with Evan Stead also finding the net.

BLACK DRAGON BADGES PREMIER NORTH DIVISION

In the one match that took place Dinnington Town were 3-0 winners at Staveley Reserves. Jordan Turner put them in front on 36 minutes, Nathan Jessop added one from the penalty spot on 68 with Ben Thornton making sure of the points five minutes later.

PREMIER SOUTH DIVISION

After playing their first six matches on the road Mayfield finally got their chance to open their home league programme but it wasn’t a happy homecoming, visitors Bakewell Town winning 2-0, Joe Muir’s 30th minute opener followed by an Aaron Maunde penalty midway through the second half.

COUNTY CUP

Finally AFC Bentley reached the second round of the Sheffield Senior Cup, beating North Gawber Colliery 3-2. Steve Garner gave them the lead on 43 minutes but the lead was short lived. Owen Hall put Bentley back in front on 58 but they were again pegged back, Brachen Steele’s 90th minute goal finally settling the tie.
