Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for December 16th

WEEKEND MATCHES
At last the sun shone and most of the planned fixtures survived, though a small minority still hadn’t recovered from last week’s soaking.

BLACK DRAGON BADGES PREMIER NORTH DIVISION
Four matches in the north with pride of place going to Elite FC who jumped to fourth place in the table after a convincing 7-1 win against AFC Bentley at Wombwell. Bartek Chrobak and Sammy Amissah claimed to apiece with Jacob Swales and Tommy Pallett, an own goal completing a miserable afternoon for the visitors for whom Luke Flanagan’s goal was presumably no consolation. Yorkshire Main also moved into the top five with a 2-0 win over hosts Hatfield Town. Brad McFadden put Main in front on 13 minutes, Dan Boulton securing maximum points with twenty minutes remaining. AFC Phoenix picked up another useful point from a 2-2 draw with Staveley Reserves. The sides were level at one all until the last five minutes, Keegan Hepplestone having scored just after half time for Phoenix, Ethan Robinson levelling for Staveley on 83 minutes. Robinson got his second three minutes into added time but Brad Jones rescued a point for Phoenix with the last kick of the game.. Woodhouse Colts beat Rossington Reserves 2-1, Jayden Bull and Liam Green put Woodhouse two up before Damien Wieczorek got one back for the visitors

PREMIER SOUTH DIVISION
Big wins for neighbours Pinxton and South Normanton who fill the top two spots after Saturday’s matches. Pinxton travelled to Mayfield and returned with the points with a 4-0 win under their belts with Sion Green scoring twice, Nathan Benger and Morgan Richards with a goal each. South Normanton went two better, putting six past Mickleover Reserves without reply. Six goals with six different scorers for the Shiners, Josh Parfitt, Sam Jackson and Reece Shaw with the first half goals, Matthw Crowe, Richard Matthews and Ross Etheridge finishing things off after the break. A much improved Arnold Town inflicted a 2-1 defeat on Graham Street Prims. Jake Ogden’s 22nd minute opener gave Arnold a lead which only lasted for three minutes before Liam Gregg levelled the scores. That was how it stayed until five minutes from time when James Jackson snatched the points for Arnold. A last minute switch to Wirksworth proved beneficial for Ivanhoe as they beat AFC Normanton 4-0 the goals coming from Lewis Higton with two, Jack Higton and Lucas Brough.

MACRON STORE NOTTINGHAM DIVISION ONE NORTH
Just the one match with goals from Mick Wibberley, Gage Johnson, Harvey Penders and Harvey Walker giving Harworth Colliery a 4-1 win at Bessacarr, their fourth win on the bounce.

DIVISION ONE EAST
With Blidworth having a blank Saturday, Kirton Brickworks took the opportunity to go six points clear at the top. There wasn’t much to spare however, Jack March’s 28th minute goal the deciding factor in their match against Long Bennington. Ollerton Town were 4-0 winners against an ill disciplined RHP side at Walesby Lane. Archie Ward scoring twice, James Scothern and Callam Clarke adding one each, the visitors finding themselves up against a referee who for once made full use of the sin bin. Linby Colliery edged out Clipstone 2-1, all three goals coming in the first 45, Zac Hamilton and Archie Brown scoring for Linby, Ben Walker with Clipstone’s reply. The Sleetmoor United v Pilsley match was abandoned following an injury to a player.

DIVISION ONE WEST
Mickleover Athletic dropped two valuable points after a spirited late comeback from Bakewell Town saw them surrender a two goal lead in the last few minutes. Piers Thompson put Mickleover in front on 28 minutes, Freddie Hatcher bringing the scores level midway through the second half. Mickleover retook the lead 15 minutes from time with a Brad Foley penalty, Cole Hassell seemingly making the result a formality with ten to go. However a storming finish from Bakewell saw Martin Brisset and Martin Cooper salvage an unlikely point. Inter Belper had a solid 4-0 win over Holbrook St Michaels, the goals coming from Harry Brown who scored twice, James Bowers and Ziggy Roddis. Kilburn are still the proud possessors of a 100% record after a 2-0 defeat of Belper United, Jordan Mighty scoring both goals. Little Eaton were 6-2 winners against Cromford & Wirksworth Town.

DRAYTON PACS DIVISION TWO
Wirksworth Ivanhoe overpowered Little Eaton 6-0 with Tom Donovan (2), Matthew Brough, Dan Gwyther, Sam Roberts and Finn Frost completing a good day for the club. Two goals from Conor Sharpe saw Sherwin to 2-1w in over second in the table Willington, their goal coming from Corie Whitecross. Ashover were 2-0 winners at Bargate Rovers.

DIVISION ONE CUP
Another four clubs booked places in Round Two of the Division One Cup. Ashland Rovers’ miserable run of form continued as they went down 3-2 at home to Sheffield FC whose goals came from Otis Pyke, Lewis Russell and Demi Timms, Ashland replying through Ashley Foster and a Nathan Harrison penalty. The Burton derby went the way of the Hornets who clinched a rare win over United 3-2. Will Stone, Deshane Latty and Josh Nikoleini gave the Hornets only their second win of the season, Rei Met Lam grabbing both for United. Another team registering only their second win were Castle Donington, Ashley Henshall with two goals and Scott Bucknall helping them to a 30 win against Punjab United. Bargate Rovers also had a 3-0 win, this time against Hemington Hammers, On target for Bargate were Joe Brumby, Kelsey Thompson and Shane Burrows.

COUNTY CUPS
Not a bad day for our teams in the various County Cup competitions. On Friday night Worksop Town Reserves reached the semi finals of the Sheffield FA Saturday Trophy, Pharrell Waite the scorer of the goal which gave the Tigers the win over Shelley Reserves. Cromford and Wirksworth Town are the CMAL’s only representatives in the semi finals of the Derbyshire Divisional Cup North after a penalty shootout win against Furness Vale. Ben Cartwright scored Cromford’s goal in normal time, the match going to penalties where Tom Wilmot pulled off the all-important save enabling his side to take the tie 5-3. In the other matches goals from Aaron Maund and Stuart Baker weren’t enough o prevent a 4-2 defeat at home to Whaley Bridge, while Rowsley 86 had a fruitless trip to Dove Holes losing out 7-0. The semi-finals of the Division Cup South will be all CMAL affairs. Derby Singh Brothers guaranteed this after knocking out “imposters” Gresley Rovers Reserves 2-1 Tyler Johal and Khaleeq Shaffique with the goals. A ray of sunshine for Holbrook St Michaels who thumped current Division One South leaders Baobab United 6-0. Micky Dunne’s hat trick, Nathan Smith’s double and one for Chris Saunders put Holbrook into the semis. The final of the Derbyshire FA Junior Cup South will feature the reserve sides of Melbourne Dynamo and Wirksworth Ivanhoe. Melbourne took the final step with a 3-2 defeat of Newhall United with two from Robin Bentley and a goal for Riley
