MIDWEEK MATCHES

Three of the semi finalists in this season’s Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup were decided in midweek, Chesterfield Youth, Doncaster City and Dearne & District all successfully through with Pinxton hoping to prevent Dinnington making it a North Division clean sweep when they meet on Tuesday. Chesterfield’s up and down season continued with a 2-1 defeat of promotion chasing South Normanton. They took a 25th minute lead through Yasser Rby, Tyron Macaskill equalising for the Shiners just before half time. What turned out to be the decider came four minutes into the second half, Finlay Morgan sending the young Spireites into the semis. Doncaster City proved too hot for Worksop Town Reserves to handle at Sandy Lane, the visitors going home with a 6-0 result. Jack McKay put them in front with a goal in the 37th minute, Shay Evans-Booth with the second four minutes later with Rio Allan practically sealing the outcome a minute before the interval. The prolific Evans-Booth completed a quickfire hat trick on 48 and 53 minutes with Tom Mitchell making up the round half dozen seven minutes from the end. Division One Blidworth Welfare showed why they are unbeaten this season, putting on a fighting display before going down 2-0 at Dearne & District on Wednesday evening. Following a goalless first 45 minutes, Dearne finally broke the deadlock on 58 minutes with a Tommy Needham goal which was followed eight minutes later by a second from Baz Lowe to complete the win.
It required penalties to separate Graham Street Prims and Derby Singh Brothers on Saturday in the League Cup and they were again evenly matched in the league, drawing 2-2. Prims’ skipper Elliott Dawson opened the scoring with 36 minutes played, a lead they held until Darnell Smith’s 73rd minute leveller. There was late excitement as Smith put Singhs ahead four minutes from full time only for George Lynam to secure a point just a minute later. Teversal’s miserable run continued as they went down 5-1 at home to Mickleover RBL despite taking an early lead through Robbie Savage. Owen Brader levelled the scores with 20 on the clock. Two goals within two minutes shortly after half time from Jordan Lee and John Cullen put the visitors in control, with Jacob Cybulski and Sam Vickers twisting the knife with goals in added time.

SATURDAY’S MATCHES

Only ten matches got the better of the rain this week proving you don’t need a named storm to play havoc with the fixtures

There were two goals each for Damien Wieczorek and Jordan Buckham with one for Jacob Robinson while Bartek Chrobak (2), Tommy Pallett and Brodey Burden replied for Elite. Earlier George Sheen had given the home side a first half lead which was wiped out by sub Arthur Pashley in the 58th minute, just two minutes after coming on. Kilburn returned to the top of the West division after a 4-3 defeat of Rowsley 86, Inspired by Jordan Mighty’s first minute strike Kilburn added further goals from Kaine Bray (2) and Ben Hilton, Rowsley running the close with goals for Matt Hopkinson with a double and Arron O’Neill.
