Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for February 3rd

Three games played this midweek one in each of the Premier divisions and one in the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup.
Pinxton went back to the top of the Black Dragon Badges Premier South Division following a 1-0 win against Melbourne Dynamo, a single goal from Sion Green midway through the second half the difference between the sides. In the North Division the goalless run of games for Chesterfield Youth now stretches to four after a 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Yorkshire Main. On target for Main were Regan Constantine, Brad McFadden Daniel Boulton and Brandon Burke. The last slot in the quarter finals of the Floodlit Cup goes to Dinnington Town following a 3-0 win over Heanor Town Reserves. After a slow start Dinnington took the lead two minutes before half time from a Jordan Turner penalty. Turner scored again with 65 minutes played. Two minutes later Nathan Jessop got the third which sets up a visit to Pinxton.

WEEKEND MATCHES

It was a close-run thing for leaders Dearne & District at Brinsworth as an improving AFC Phoenix restricted them to a single goal, only Baz Lowe’s 55th penalty separating the two sides. No league defeat since early October for Dinnington Town who went joint second after a comprehensive 8-1 win against Hatfield Town. The home side got off to the perfect start Cameron Evans netting in the second minute and Jordan Turner converting penalty with only eight minutes played. Another Turner goal made it three at half time, and after James Bytheway had pulled one back for Hatfield on 49 minutes, Turner completed his hat trick on the hour. Four more goals in he last ten minutes made things look even worse for the visitors, Evans getting his second, Justin Circuit contributing one and Turner adding two in the last four minutes to take his personal tally to five. A rare but very valuable three points for SJR Worksop as they travelled the short distance to Woodhouse Colts and returned with all three points after a 3-0 win. Goals from Kieran Taylor, Tom Mullen and Chad Lake. Staveley Reserves ended a run of seven homes from the lasr eight with a 3-0 win against Yorkshire Main, the goals coming from Charlie Bingham, Cal Brown and Jay Jay Cutts. Unfortunately for Glapwell it was business as usual as they subsided to a 7-1 defeat at home to Doncaster City. The home side conceded in the first minute for the fourth time this season, Mo Gashi finding the net after just thirty seconds with Jack Mackay doubling the score after half an hour and Jake Drury giving Doncaster a healthy interval lead. An own goal two minutes after the restart made it four before Glapwell got one back, 17 year old debutant Evan Palmer the scorer but Doncaster increased the winning margin, Shay Evans Booth, Rio Allan and Jonny Nyantou piling on the misery for the hosts. After a poor run recently Chesterfield Youth got back to winning ways, defeating Kiveton Miners Welfare 3-2 thanks to goals from Luke Mitchell, Liam Jessop and Tom Pawson, Kiveton’s reply coming from Solly Limb and Abiodun Olukoton. A point apiece for Harworth Colliery and AFC Bentley, Adam Morrison’s 33rd minute goal for Harworth countered by a second half effort credited to Liam Carrick.

Pinxton extended their lead at the top of the Premier South to six points with a 5-1 win at Mickleover Reserves, although local rivals South Normanton have two games in hand. Nathan Benger and Ben Jones each scored twice for Pinxton, Harley Kozluk also finding the net while Liam Carter got on the scoresheet for the hosts. Melbourne Dynamo’s recent poor run of results was put firmly behind them as they won 5-0 at AFC Normanton. A pair of goals within three minutes midway through the first half and another two in five second half minutes proved doubly effective, James Smith the destroyer in chief with four of his side’s goals, Tyler Withers with the other one. Another quick burst of goals at Bakewell resulted in a 3-0 win for visiting Linby Colliery. After a close first half the game was turned on it’s head in a five minute spell om the hour Linby’s speedy treble coming from Joe Butler, Mitch Slawson and Alex Paterson. Wirksworth Ivanhoe climbed into the top four after a 2-1 win over Teversal, who have to look back to September for their last win which was against – Wirksworth Ivanhoe-. The home side got their revenge with goals from Tom Mellor and Lucas Brough, Charlie Smith’s 85th reply coming too late for Tevie. Arnold Town picked up a useful three points at Holbrook St Michaels thanks to a Jake Ogden goal, while Mayfield and Mansfield Hosiery Mills managed to achieve the rarest of results, their goalless draw being only the second of the season in the whole of the Premier South.

The remaining three quarter final slots in the Buckingham Insurance League Cup will be filled by Cromford & Wirksworth Town, Derby Singh Brothers and Elite AFC. Elite won 3-0 at current cup holders Mickleover RBL, two goals in the first half coming from Sammy Amissah and Robbie Wood with Jacob Tupling ensuring the win after the interval. At Cromford The home side overcame the challenge of Mickleover Athletic 3-2. Josh Henshaw put the hosts ahead just before half time, Dom Hurst levelling shortly after the restart. Dale Hill came off the bench to give Cromford back in the lead which was again wiped out, this time by the impressive Jamie Laird, only for Hill to have the last word, his second settling the tie. The third match, between Derby Singh Brothers and Graham Street Prims, was a tight affair, Prims Max Bulmer the most unfortunate player of the day, scoring a hat trick and still finishing on the losing side. The match ended in a 3-3 draw, Bulmer’s three countered by Tyler Johal (2) and Bhupinder Aletan. The resulting shootout saw both teams convert the first five, Singh’s winning it 6-5 with the first of the sudden death kicks.

Suly the best win of the day came in Division One East where Long Bennington inflicted the first defeat of the season on Kirton Brickworks 2-0 and will surely leave the Brickies looking over their shoulder as Blidworth Welfare reel in their six games in hand. Long Bennington’s matchwinners were Alfie Morley after 26 minutes and Ollie Bridges who added the second with nine minutes left on the clock. Linby Colliery are now a distant third following a 2-0 win at Church Lane over Pilsley Community, Joe Turner and a Jamie Thomas with a penalty the scorers. The only goal of the match at Clipstone went the way of the home side, Ryan Hawley sending visitors RHP home empty handed.

Holbrook St Michaels moved off the bottom of the Division One West table following a 3-2 defeat of Little Eaton with Mahamadou Touray, Kailan Cole-Tonks and Mark Rathbone all finding the net. A second win of the season for Cromford & Wirksworth Town who made the short journey to Rowsley 86 which proved successful as goals from Joe Geeson (20), Rob Inkle (51) and Lewis Newman (83) did the trick.

Two of the top three in Division One South suffered home defeats with second placed Hilton Harriers going down 2-1 to Burton United. Ace goalscorer Jamie Disney struck twice for the visitors while Sam Roberts got one for the Harriers. Baobab united went down 5-2 to Stapenhill for whom Brad Wright’s double was supplemented with goals from Amari Osayande, Ross Hall and Dawoda Touray. There was also some family rivalry as brothers Musa Jeng and Dawoda Touray appeared for opposing sides. Hemington Hammers and Punjab United shared the points in a 2-2, Hammers’ goals from veteran Matt Brian and Kojo Kyei were matched by United’s Kirk Francis and Simeon Lawrence. Lewis Benjamin, Myles Sturgess and Leonel Baushi were FC Sunnyhill’s marksmen as they won 3-1 at Castle Donington

Four ties in the Division One Cup, with Blidworth Welfare emulating their league form with a five goal victory at Teversal, the result virtually settled by half time, Reilly Hodgkinson’ double and one each for Liam Carver and Brandon Clarke all coming between the 29th and 42nd minutes, Carver’s second five minutes into the second half completing the win. Holbrook Sports progressed with a 4-1 defeat of Sleetmoor United, Olly Curd, Dan Sharp, Mike Birkinshaw and Brad Daly the scorers, Brad Finn with one for Sleetmoor.
