Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for January 27th

MIDWEEK MATCHES

The three Tuesday night games produced a total of twenty goals of which the visiting teams contributed just one. In the Black Dragon Badges Premier South division Melbourne Dynamo suffered a very uncharacteristic 7-0 defeat at the hands of Mickleover Reserves. Sam Tomlinson inflicted the most damage. running in four of the home side’s goals, Finlay Ryder with two and Liam Carter also on target.
FC Sunnyhill’s Tyrel Francis was the only visiting player to appear on the scoresheets but that was their high spot as opponents Stapenhill Reserves coasted to a 7-1 win in the Macron Store Nottingham Division One South. George Teeney scored no less than five times for the home team, Brad Wright and Dante Edwards adding one each.
A blistering first half display saw Dearne & District book their place in the quarter finals of the Buckingham Insurance League Cup against Chesterfield Youth. Baz Lowe’s double added to goals from Curtis Wilkinson and Enzo Guarin along with an own goal saw Dearne out of sight by the end of the first half, the second half proving to be rather less eventful as 5-0 remained the final score.

WEEKEND MATCHES

Friday night produced a much better outcome for Chesterfield, their Premier North match with third placed Dinnington Town ending goalless. Doncaster City regained second spot as their short journey to Hatfield Town resulted in a 6-1 win. Jonny Nyantou opened their account in the 28th minute Rio Allen adding a second seven minutes later. The visitors turned up the heat after the break, Mo Gashi and Nyantou scoring within a minute of each other, Gashi completing a quick hat trick with a double on 75 and 77 minute. Hatfield did finally get on the scoresheet when James Bytheway netted five minutes from time. AFC Phoenix, enjoying their best run in quite some time, edged a seven goal thriller at Woodhouse Colts. Phoenix were quick out of the traps, Billy Godbert netting twice in the first twelve minutes but Woodhouse retaliated with a quick double from Jayden Bull bringing the sides level with only 19 minutes on the clock. Bull completed his hat trick in the 55th minute but the scores were level again a couple of minutes later thanks to Ash O’Brien. The decider came from a Josh Bennett free kick five minutes before the final whistle. Brandon Burke with two, Josh Gelder and Brad McFadden were Yorkshire Main’s scorers in their 4-2 win at Kiveton Miners Welfare for whom Solly Limb scored both. Another close encounter was at Staveley Reserves where the home side beat AFC Bentley 3-2. For Staveley Charlie Bingham, Ross Hobson and Corey Clarke found the net, Shaun Carrington and Austin Henry with Bentley’s reply. Another pointless afternoon for Glapwell but a much reduced margin of defeat, Rossington Main Reserves coming away from Hall Corner 3-0 winners with Jason Stokes, Jordhan Buckham and Damien Wieczorek notching one apiece.

The pick of the four Premier South division matches was at Wharf Road where visitors Bakewell Town came from behind three times to take a point from a 3-3 draw at Pinxton. Jack Hodgkinson’s opener was answered by Jamie Carrington, Morgan Richards putting the home side in front by half time. Ewan Sutherill equalised immediately after the restart , Richards then giving Pinxton the advantage yet again only for Pat Mosley to net in the final minute, a goal which denied the hosts the chance of returning to the top of the table. There was a second win in three games for Mayfield, lifting them further away from the foot of the table, this one against Arnold Town, the final score 3-0. Scorers for Mayfield were John Ford, Sam Handley and Paul Williams. The other two matches were settled by a single goal. At Linby the destination of the points was settled by a strike in the 29th minute by Tom Mellor while at the Fieldings, Mansfield Hosiery Mills left it late to beat Granam Street Prims, Aaron Carrington’s decider not arriving until eight minutes from time.

There were a couple of matches in Division One East. Teversal beat Sleetmoor United 3-1. Jason Hepple gave Tevie a 32nd minute lead but it took Sleetmoor only seven minutes to get on terms, Anthony Crick the scorer. Not to be outdone Chris Heathcote put the home side back in front three minutes before the end of the first half, Robbie Savage delivering the final blow on 56 minutes. In the other game Pilsley were 5-1 winners against Ollerton Town. Pilsley’s goals were shared between five different scorers, Nathan Flint, Kian Barlow, Curtis Sharples, Rhys Wallhead and Shane Marriott all beating the keeper with Archie Ward getting the goal for Ollerton.

In the West, the big surprise was at Kilburn where the home side relinquished the league’s last 100% record, mid-table Inter Belper walking off with the points after a 3-2 win. Tom Bednal, Harry Everley and Robbie Slinger were on target for Inter, first half goals from Jay Barrett and Jordan Mighty not enough for Kilburn. Belper Town also won 3-2 against Rowsley, Archie Williams, Destiny Ikeuwan and Lewis Walker with the goals for the home side, Michael Lettall and Noah Wayne scoring for the visitors.

Three games also in the South Division with Allenton United going to the top after an 8-1 thrashing of bottom side Hemington Hammers. Allenton scored four in each half, shared between Elliott Meehan with a hat trick, Labrada Domini who got a double, Ollie Buxton, Josh Walters and Sam Harrison. One goal decided Stapenhill Reserves’ match against Baobab United, Brad Wright winning it for Stapenhill midway through the secpnd half. Two goals from the reliable Jamie Disney gained Burton United a point from a 2-2 draw at Castle Donington.

In the Drayton PACS Division Two Newhall United were one of the day’s big winners beating Aston Village 8-0. There were hat tricks for Mitchell Moore and Louis Garland, including a penalty each, with Tristan Sharp and James Warren also on the scoresheet. Close behind were Markeaton with a 7-0 defeat of Castle Donington. Again there a pair of trebles, Joe Waterfield and Ben Jones both hitting three in a goal packed first half. The second 45 was more even, Joe Miller’s 52Nd minute goal the only addition to the score. Leaders Melbourne Dynamo won 4-2 at Ashover, the team at the foot of the table thanks to Ricky Moore and Joe Shadbolt with two goals each while Oli Curran also scored twice for Ashover. On a day when there were a host of doubles, the trend continued at Ashland Rovers who drew 2-2 with Willington United, Michael Dennis two for Ashland answered by a brace of goals from Willington’s Maso Bannister. There was another draw at Little Eaton who shared the points with Sherwin, George Messam the scorer for the hosts, Carlos Grant with the goal for Sherwin. Wirksworth Ivanhoe joined their first team with a 1-0 win, Reece Marshall the scorer against Winster Darley Lions.

Blidworth Welfare claimed their second Premier Division scalp in the Buckingham Insurance League Cup, the victims this time SJR Worksop. It took just 4 minutes for Reilly Hodgkinson to put them in front from the penalty spot and another five for the same player to add number two. Tris Burrell’s strike on the stroke of half time ended the scoring, Blidworth safely seeing out the game out to progress to the next round.

Top of the East Division Kirton Brickworks hosted top of the North Division Armthorpe Welfare in round two of the Division One Cup, the match turning out to be extremely one sided as Armthorpe came away with an 8-1 scoreline to their credit. Kieran Webb, Brad Sparrow and Clayton Cherowbrier all scored two, Oliver Hemstock and an own goal making up the total. Jack March got what was hardly a consolation goal for the Brickies. There were two more wins for northern clubs over east division opponents. A hat trick from Max Eastwood and one apiece for Shah Hassan and Regan Slater gave Worksop Town a 5-0 win at home to Linby Colliery while Bessacarr saw off the challenge of Long Bennington 2-1. Scorers for Bessacarr were James Francis and Rhys James with Tom King replying for the visitors. An impressive result for RHP who knocked out Sheffield FC 3-0, all three goals scored by Sol Miller. A single goal from Clipstone’s Joe Daniels was sufficient to put out Harworth Colliery. Cromford & Wirksworth Town got the better of Holbrook St Michaels, winning 3-0. Lewis Newman got them off to the perfect start with a goal in the second minute, the other two goals coming after half time, Rob Inkle (55) and Bob Wardle (80) sealing the win for Cromford. Despite goals from Harry Baines and Conner Franklin, Hilton Harriers went out of the cup 4-2 as Mickleover scored four, Jamie Laird with two, Harry Foxon and Cole Hassell putting them into the third round.

Finally, congratulations go to three of our teams who will be in the finals of the Derbyshire FA’s Divisional Cup competitions. Cromford & Wirksworth will play in the northern final after a 1-0 win against Dove Holes, Ryan smith with the all-important goal in the 75th minute. Cromford will now face Tintwistle Athletic in the final. As the two semi finals involved CMAL teams, league representation in the Divisional Cup South final was guaranteed. The final will feature Mickleover RBL and Derby Singh Brothers. The Legion narrowly defeated Holbrook St Michaels 2-1. Ryan Morgan and Lee Hillier ending Holbrook’s hopes despite a Kieran Smith goal in reply. The other match went to penalties, Derby Singh Brothers coming out on top after a 3-3 draw with Melbourne Dynamo. Khaleeq Shaffique wss Singh’s hero, scoring all three with Tyler Withers, Sam Simpson and Oscar Supple all scoring for Dynamo. Singhs booked their final appearance winning 5-3 I the penalty shootout.
