Another Saturday short on matches. Here's a roundup of the remains of the day

Central Midlands Alliance Roundup for January 20th

One more Saturday blighted by weather as the slow thaw promised in the forecasts was too slow and too late to save the majority of matches.

In the one midweek match Division One Worksop Town Reserves travelled to Derby to take on Mickleover Reserves, moving smoothly into the regional semi-finals of the Abacus Lighting Floodlit Cup after a 4-1 win. Dean Ironmonger put the home side ahead in the early stages but Shah Hussein levelled the scores after 18 minutes, Louis Brown giving the Tigers the lead with 38 played. The tie was settled by a double from Ellis Bennett, the first midway through the second half, the second eight minutes from time.

Games were few and far between on Saturday

Two of the four scheduled third round ties in the Buckingham Insurance League Cup went ahead. In a match which was a credit to both teams and the league, Dinnington Town and Pinxton drew 3-3. In an end to end encounter Pinxton drew first blood, Jay Cooper giving his team a fourth minute lead which they held until a minute into the second half when Justin Circuit levelled. A Jordan Turner brace in the 59th and 64th minutes seemed to have put the match to bed, but Pinxton had other ideas, Morgan Richards getting one back in the 75th minute and bringing the scores level three minutes later. A cup tie which neither side deserved to lose had to go to penalties, Dinnington winning the shootout 3-1. Doncaster City also went through to the quarter finals with a 4-1 win at Hatfield Town. Mo GashI opened the visitors’ account on 26 minutes but it wasn’t until midway through the second half that Jack McKay added number two. Gashi got his second after 73 minutes with Jake Dury scoring City’s fourth with ten minutes remaining. Hatfield got a consolation goal three minutes from time thanks to Joel McCabe.

The sole game in the Black Dragon Badges Premier North division resulted in a 3-1 home defeat for AFC Phoenix at the hands of the Elite AFC. Sammy Amissah’s 5th minute goal gave Elite a lead which they held until the break. Amissah’s second, five minutes into the second half was brought a quick response from the home side with Lewis Fretwell pulling a goal back on 52 minutes. The outcome was settled by Bartek Chrobak’s strike 15 minutes from the end.

One tie survived in the Division One Cup, Allenton United recording a 4-0 win at Castle Donington. The damage was done in the first half Elliot Meehan and Jack Walsh both scoring in the opening fifteen before Labrada Domini struck a third on 34 minutes. Luke Stone finished the scoring, netting on 64 minutes to ensure Allenton go into the next round.

Sheffield FC pulled in one of their numerous games in hand in the Macron Store Nottingham Division One North and made good use of it with a 4-0 win at Bottesford Town. Sheffield scored twice in each half, Carter Tingle and Lewis Russell netting in the first 45, Demi Timms and Tingle again after the break, A close run thing at Scrooby Road with visitors Bessacarr edging to a 4-3 win against Harworth Colliery. Harworth’s scorers were Mick Wibberley, Harvey Walker and Kian Docherty while Lucas Habbershaw, Jack Dormer, Pete Walmsley and Ryan Whiteside secured the points for Bessacarr. Kirton Brickworks regained their 15 point lead with a 2-1 win at Clipstone in Division One East, despite playing the final 40 minutes with ten men. The Brickies took the points with a goal from Connor Steel and a Kieron Johnson penalty with Joe Daniels on target for the hosts.

Little Eaton had a 5-0 win at home to Castle Donington in the Drayton Sam Hartshorne with a double, Harrison Penfold, Mason Wright and Tee Mash getting the goals.

Congratulations to Worksop Town reserves who reached the final of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Saturday Cup, Rhys Butterworth and Louis Brown scoring two each in a 4-3 win against Barnsley Town.
